Synopsis
Kim Su-ho, a civil engineering student, falls asleep reading a fantasy novel and wakes up inside it as Lloyd Frontera: the lazy, hard-drinking son of a noble family drowning in debt. Using his engineering knowledge, he starts designing inventions and building projects to pull his family out of ruin and dodge the fate the original story has in store for him. Along the way he’s joined by, among others, a knight and a giant hamster.
My take
Put simply, one of the best series I’ve read, manhwa or otherwise. The mix of humor, drama and action is handled to perfection, backed by flawless art. The protagonist (Lloyd) wakes up in a world inside a book, but not in the body of the hero (Javier): he lands in the body of a minor lord’s son, destined to be irrelevant. Armed with his civil engineering knowledge, what he knows of the book (and a huge desire to make enough money to never have to do anything ever again), he gets dragged along with the “real” hero into a story as funny as it is deep. It’s not easy to sum up how good this manhwa is in a few sentences, so if this short description doesn’t convince you to give it a chance, please ignore my writing skills and start reading. You’ll understand why I give it these scores. Required reading.
