Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint Review (No Spoilers)
Kim Dokja is the only reader who knows how the novel that just came true ends. Top tier and a must-read before the anime arrives.

If you’ve ever yelled at a character not to open that door, you’re going to like Kim Dokja: he actually knows what’s behind it. Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint is top tier, and with the webtoon’s first season wrapped and the anime on its way, there’s no better time to read it. At least you’ve got 311 chapters to catch up on while we wait.
What it’s about
Kim Dokja has spent over ten years reading Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse, a web novel he’s the only reader to have finished. The day he reaches the end, the story comes true and the world turns into a survival scenario, with Dokja as the only person who knows how it ends.
His knowledge of the novel is his main weapon to change the course of events, alongside the story’s protagonist, Yoo Joonghyuk, a regressor.
What makes it special
He isn’t the protagonist. Dokja gets dragged into the story of his favourite novel, which bleeds into reality, but the protagonist is someone else: Yoo Joonghyuk, an absolutely OP regressor. It’s the same starting idea as The Greatest Estate Developer, just with an apocalypse instead.
He wins by thinking, not punching. Technically you could call it a power fantasy, given his “reader” ability. But Kim Dokja almost always faces his enemies at a power disadvantage, and only comes out on top thanks to his knowledge of the future and his cunning. That makes it far more interesting to read than its genre competitors.
That doesn’t mean the action takes a back seat; it’s one of its biggest strengths. With art to match, the fights are frantic and spectacular. The powers on show are creative and original (sometimes it does come down to who fires the biggest kamehameha, but most of the time there’s a lot more meat to it than that).
The cast around Dokja is up to the task too. Characters to love and characters to hate: there’s something for everyone. Their relationships are another strong point, with alliances and betrayals the order of the day.
Before the anime: where the series stands
The webtoon. It launched on Naver Webtoon in May 2020 and closed its first season in May 2026 with chapter 311, almost six years later and with hardly any breaks. Season 2 returns this fall: WEBTOON announced it at New York Comic Con, though with no exact date yet.
The anime. Aniplex and Crunchyroll announced it at Anime Expo 2024 with a first teaser. Since then, not much: no studio and no official date. The 2027 you’ll see floating around comes from leaked financial documents, not an announcement, so take it with a pinch of salt.
The novel. singNsong’s original finished in 2020 at 551 chapters and has been running side stories since 2024. In English, Yen Press publishes it in print.
The movie. If you’re coming from the live-action version that premiered in Korea in July 2025, bear in mind that it strays quite a bit from the original story and got a lukewarm reception. The webtoon is a different beast.

If you like it, try…
If what hooks you is the idea of entering a novel without being its hero, The Greatest Estate Developer turns it into a comedy, and it’s complete. And if you’re coming for the world-turned-game, here are the manhwa like Solo Leveling.
My verdict
Top tier. A protagonist who can’t win by brute force and has to win by thinking is exactly what most of the genre is missing. A must-read, and better before the anime tells you what happens next. Start reading.
