Manhwa on Hiatus: When They Return (October 2026)

One has a date, two have a confirmed season and one's gone nearly two years without news. Where the most painful hiatuses stand, as of October 2026.

A young reader in a hoodie sits on a windowsill at night with his knees drawn up, looking down at a tablet while blank comic panels and empty speech bubbles hang motionless around him

Finishing a season of a manhwa and running into the “will return” notice is practically a rite of passage. The problem is knowing how long you’ll have to wait. Here are the hiatuses that hurt the most right now, from the most certain to the most uncertain, with what’s official and what’s just rumour.

With a date: Murim Login

The longest wait in the series’ history finally has an end: season 4 starts on November 7 with chapters 251 and 252 at once, then one every Saturday. KENAZ announced it on KakaoPage on October 21 (ChapterBrief), after a nine-month break. The schedule and the previous hiatuses are in our season 4 article.

It’s one of my favourites, so this one’s circled in red on my calendar.

Confirmed, no date yet

Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint

Season 1 ended on June 9 with chapter 311 on Naver Webtoon (June 1 in English, with chapter 308). At its New York Comic Con panel, WEBTOON confirmed season 2 is coming back “this fall” (RedBeanime), but as of October 29 the series page still has no date (ChapterBrief). Fall ends in December, so the window is closing.

If you haven’t started it yet, our review explains why it’s top tier. It’s on WEBTOON as Omniscient Reader.

Solo Leveling: Ragnarok

The news of the week: after nearly ten months on hiatus, the Solo Leveling sequel has confirmed its third season, with a first look posted by D&C Webtoon (ComicBook). What it doesn’t have yet is a date.

Season 2 ended on January 7 with chapter 68, and there’s a reason for the break: Jin, the artist, started his mandatory military service (Anime News Network). Season 3 comes with a new artist, so we’ll see how that fits.

Rough date: Eternally Regressing Knight

Season 1 wrapped up this year at 112 chapters, and WEBTOON only says it will return. MangaUpdates has it down for early 2027, but there’s no announcement from Naver to confirm it. It’s one of my favourite series and I’ve just reviewed it: if you want to catch up before it’s back, you’ve got plenty of time.

No news: Tower of God

The longest hiatus on the list. Part 3 ended with chapter 235 in February 2025 and, since then, the official WEBTOON page only says it “will be back”, with no date or reason (ChapterBrief). That’s more than twenty months now. In the meantime, everything up to there is on WEBTOON.

Already back (in Korean): SSS-Class Suicide Hunter

The good news on the list, sort of. Season 5 started on September 25 on KakaoPage and is already up to chapter 157 (MangaUpdates). In English, though, Tapas has been on hiatus since February, with no date for season 5. Everything, including the January anime, is in our article.

Other hiatuses

  • The Beginning After the End: goes on hiatus today on Tapas, after episode 259. According to the October 26 notice, “the extent and duration of the hiatus is still to be determined”.
  • Teenage Mercenary: on hiatus on Naver since April (chapter 280) and on WEBTOON since June, no date.
  • Doom Breaker: season 2 ended in March 2024 and there’s no official return notice.

All according to ChapterBrief’s tracker.

If you read in English, watch out for Tapas

Several of these series have their official English release on Tapas: Murim Login (as Log-in Murim, which only goes up to the end of season 1), Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, SSS-Class Suicide Hunter (as SSS-Class Revival Hunter) and The Beginning After the End. Tapas shuts down on March 31, 2027 and you haven’t been able to buy Ink since October. Ragnarok is also on Tappytoon, which is where its third season is expected in English; for the rest, nobody has said yet where they’ll end up.
